We use policy debate as the primary training tool. We have nationally successful debaters who have used their debate skills to engage in activism in Baltimore and will guide youth in using high level research and argumentation techniques to effectively advocate on issues that are important to their communities.
Advocacy & Activism
Black radical political education is the basis for guiding our advocacy on political issues. Advancing Black self determination and addressing institutional oppression is the essential paradigm that guides our perspective on issues of mass incarceration, police brutality, sexual violence, community development etc. We will use this perspective to advocate for public policies that are in the best interest of the most marginalized people in Baltimore.
To participate in our program you must be a high school student who attends our meetings twice a week. We recommend that students join our program with a partner from their high school. In order to qualify for national championship tournaments you must debate with someone from your school.
This is a free program! Our grassroots support finances our ability to provide our youth with high level advocacy training.
